IB PROGRAMMES

Alameda International offers two IB programmes for 11th and 12th grade students: DP & CP. The DP prepares students for college, allowing them to earn undergraduate credit alongside their high school diploma. The CP offers students an opportunity to focus specifically on creative careers, preparing them for immediate entry and certification into the job market or higher education.

The Visual Arts CP is in Visual Communication. Students turn their passion for visual arts (graphic design, illustration, photography, animation, etc.) into a viable career option in addition to providing the academic rigor found at the undergraduate level.

Students will refine their art skills, gain contextual knowledge about visual culture, and prepare a portfolio of work to be reviewed by industry leaders. Students also engage in the CP Core: Personal Professional Skills, Service Learning, Reflective Project, and Language Development.

Prior to the DP, starting in 11th Grade, students are encouraged to take foundational and Level 1 courses as a 9th and 10th grader. This will allow them to engage fully with the art department and also provide them an opportunity to explore and refine their skills.
