PROGRAM OF STUDY

Graphic Design Workspace

The Middle School Visual Arts program offers 2 options for students in 7th & 8th Grade, each option being structured through the Middle Years Programme (MYP) philosophy of teaching through the IB. For our middle school students, we aim to expose them to as many forms of art-making as possible so they are able to develop a well-rounded foundation of skills and allow them to build on their interests so they can refine their skills and explore topics further in their high school career. We also begin to develop character skills such as research/planning, communication, reflection, and collaboration.

  • Middle School Visual Arts Level 1 (7th Grade)

  • Middle School Visual Arts Level 2 (8th Grade)

  • Digital Design 1 (7th Grade)

  • Digital Design 2 (8th Grade)

The Graphic Design & Photography pathway at Alameda International follows a program structure designed by the Colorado Career and Technical Education. Students follow yearlong courses designed to prepare students for relevant and rigorous expectations of the field. At the completion of the pathway, students will create and present a capstone project, portfolio of work, and have built industry connections through internships, job interviews, or mentorships.

If students decide the CTE Pathway is too rigorous, or if their interests change, there are still plenty of options for students to hone their skills, build relationships, and prepare for the future.
